Interview with Dylan Stiles

Here’s our interview with Dylan Stiles. Dylan Stiles is a 22 year old Hip-Hop/Rap artist from Madisonville, Tennessee.

What’s your favorite part about making music? What are your goals within the music industry?: “My favorite part about making music is the art, and creativity that goes into it. Art has always been important to me. When I younger I was always drawing or creating something. I have been making music since I was in 7th grade. My uncle taught how to play the guitar, and I kinda just took it from there. I wanna tell people my story, and help people. I started making music, because I seen the opportunity it has to help people. I have crated my own record company that give independent artists a chance to get in the studio, and put there music out there without having to break the bank, or sign a BS contract. As a producer I wanna work with artists who have a vision of what they want, and the drive to get there. As an artist I just wanna be remembered for the hard work, and dedication I’ve put into this. I’m not even supposed to be able to make the music I make. I was born with a birth defect called Cystic Hygroma. I wasn’t supposed to be able to walk, talk, eat, or anything really and I do all those things. I’m basically a normal guy now I had a tracheostomy to help me breathe until I was 16 years old. It’s a miracle I’m even alive.”

Which artists have had an influence on your music? Who’s music would you compare yours to?: “Growing up I lived way out in the country so I grew up listening too Johnny Cash, Allen Jackson, Kenny Chesney, and Eric Church. It wasn’t until I was in 8 grade when I started listening to Rap. When I was at school my friends were all Drake and lil Wayne fans. So naturally I started listening to some rappers, and the first rapper I liked, and really rocked with was Kevin Gates. From there I found a Tennessee rapper a little older than me on SoundCloud going by the name “Arrii” who is now known as Ryan Upchurch. Upchurch inspired me the most probably him, Johnny Cash, & Eric Church. My cousin Justin Moses who is a bluegrass artist inspired me a lot as well I grew up watching him make it in the industry and that give me the thought of hey he made it I can too. My music sounds different because you don’t know what to expect. I bring a lot too the table. I have songs that sound like Post Malone, and I have songs that sound like Travis Scott. Then I have songs that sound more country like Upchurch or Adam Calhoun. I have rock songs, rap songs, and country songs. I grew up listening to every from AC/DC to Vince Gill to Eminem. You really never know what I’m gonna put out there.”

What are you working on right now? What should readers go listen to?: “I’ve been working on new music I have a couple projects I wanna do as well as YouTube videos, and I’ve really been working on my producer skills trying to better my sound quality. I’m planning on putting a song out every month, or every other month next year. I’m also planning on doing a tour next year, and putting on some shows for my fans. There’s also a movie coming in the future I wanna get into acting and, producing movies, and shows. I’m making a YouTube channel called “StilesTV” where I can let my creativity run wild on there. I just dropped my second Rap album called “1998.” You can purchase, or stream it on any music store such as iTunes, Apple Music, Google play, Spotify, or any other streaming services.
